Fact sheet ceiling

  • In the Openly Valley project, innovative box girder ceilings with clay infill were used. This special ceiling construction combines cavities with solid structures, making it particularly light yet extremely stable.

A box girder ceiling also offers the possibility of storing energy efficiently: With Openly 1, around 70 % of the energy is stored in the ceilings.

The clay serves both to regulate moisture and as an additional energy store.

The entire house has a modular design and can be assembled using simple plug-in and screw connections.

The hollow box ceilings consist of prefabricated elements. Schöb AG, a leading Swiss family business in the field of timber system construction, developed an innovative press for this project. This can be used to efficiently produce ceiling elements in various sizes.
