A house of the future is now being built: it already meets the Paris 2050 climate targets

With hemp and clay: Altstätter builds plus-energy house that already meets the Paris 2050 climate targets today

We look forward to receiving reports from the areas of business, sustainability, technology, energy & environment, CO2 certificates and entrepreneurship.

OPENLY was founded to make a concrete contribution to the building transition, as 25% of global greenhouse gas emissions come from the construction industry. That is around 8 times the amount of all shipping traffic.

Architecture needs to be fundamentally rethought, and with it its media coverage and assessment. Today's architectural superstars belong to a generation that has never dealt with climate. For example, Norman Foster is currently building the new Apple Temple in California with glass from Gossau SG (Switzerland), and the Swiss Federal Railways has afforded itself a natural stone façade from China on Europaallee in Zurich, ironically with a LEED Platinum certificate.

The OPENLY building system reduces construction emissions by around 50%, is designed to be global and scalable, but is planned and built regionally.

The OPENLY Valley Widnau pilot project was always geared towards upscale gastronomy, which is why we also commissioned Baumschlager Eberle Architekten to design and submit the building application for the first stage. Where good and sustainable food is cooked, it is also beautifully presented.

We have deliberately avoided avocado and kiwi foam soup (build as little house as possible). Accordingly, we also do without Gault Millau toques or Michelin stars on the front door. (= no participation in architecture awards)
